Yesterday, the whole team was busy eating a hamburger and playing video games, so the game has to be delayed again. I beg your pardon!
However, I did complete a sprite and today I have continued working on the tileset.
To make up for this delay, I decided to talk a bit about the logo of the game. It can actually be seen at the top of the blog, but if you missed it, here it is again:
Maybe it’s a bit small. In that case, please use a magnifying glass.
The design behind the logo is intended to unite the viking and ninja writing cultures in a familiar yet fresh way.
The logo font is based on rune and brush styled roman alphabets, combined into a new, unique font. The black, thicker parts of the letters symbolize the brush used in Japan for writing, and the thinner dark red parts symbolize the runic writing used in the Nordic countries in the viking era (and even up to the last century in parts of Sweden!).
The ”&” symbol is a combination between the ”” (V) of the viking era alphabet (called futhark) and the “ん” (N) of the Japanese hiragana syllabary.
Under the main logo is an alternate version written in actual runes and hiragana. The V and the last N here have the same colour as the & symbol, red.
Possibly, one ”I” can be changed to a kunai and the J can be changed to an axe. But perhaps that’s too much design then.
I’ll probably hire a professional to make a better version of the logo in Photoshop. Maybe tomorrow?
